recipe for stripy biscuits

ingredients

1 cup or 155 grams or 5 ounces of FLOUR

a little bit of BAKING POWDER if it was plain flour

a little bit of SALT

½ cup or 125 grams or 4 ounces of SUGAR

½ cup or 125 grams or 4 ounces of BUTTER or something like it

1 EGG

some COCOA POWDER

I put some of the taste of an ORANGE into mine, but you don’t have to –– I used some juice, and the grated zest

instructions

Mix the butter and sugar.

Stir in the egg.

Sieve in all the dry things.

Mix it all up together.

Divide the dough into two.

Add cocoa powder to one half to make it dark.

If it’s too dry to stick together, add a bit of orange juice or milk

If it’s too wet, add more cocoa or flour.

Wrap each half up and put them in the fridge for a while.

Heat up the oven to 180 centigrade or 350 fahrenheit or gas mark 4

Squash the dough into two cuboids.

Cut long slices from the cuboids, and pile them on top of each other in a stripy pile.

Now you can cut slices across the stripes.

Put them on a baking tray. Space them out, because they do spread a bit while they’re cooking.

Cook them for maybe seven minutes.

Let them cool on the tray (but make sure they haven’t stuck).

Give them to your stripy friends.

warning

don’t burn yourself

don’t eat too many biscuits all at once

there will be a lot of things to wash up afterwards
