the aftermath of the party

I’ve had enough of parties for the time being.

It’s been lovely to see all my friends and neighbours, but now there’s the clearing up to do.

And then I must catch up on everyday life.

And get my rocket seeds sown in the raised bed.

It’s time I got back to including a leafy green leaf in my diet every day.

That wasn’t really difficult.

I need to put my mind to rescuing poor Ruffy. But I’ll catch up with domestic duties first.

I’d better practise my triangle next. And do a Welsh lesson. And read a good book ready for the next Book Club.

Now, what was the topic going to be for the Book Club?

Oh yes. Ellie said she’d been collecting ideas for books about illness, and recovering from illness.

She hadn’t liked to suggest it while we were all worried about the Virus, but now perhaps it would be interesting to read them in the light of our recent experiences. And the books about getting better would be cheering.

I’m still quite worried about the Virus, but I expect I’m making a silly fuss. I have been vaccinated, after all.

The only book about illness that I can think of is Froggy’s Little Brother. I’ll get it out.

But perhaps I’ll have just a quick nap.

Ding-dong!

I packed some assorted wool into a bag for Lopsy.

But why would a post-box want a woolly hat, I wonder.

And why would Lopsy want to knit one?

I’ll have a look myself. Perhaps the person left a message.

What’s that out there? A feather?

I think that looks like a stork feather.

Oh no. Oh dear. Oh dear oh dear.

I do believe the Stork came while I was sleeping. He’d been to fetch Um and the Baby to come and visit, and now they’ve gone away again.

I’ll never get another chance to see them.

I knew no good would come of extreme sociability.

I was distracted, and now I’ve been horribly unwelcoming.

Poor Um, struggling in an alien country, to be turned away from the first house that she was able to call home!

And the little Baby – it will never trust me again!

Oh Tom, you get everything wrong.

  1. Tom is a very sensitive soul and cares so much about his friends. Each episode is full of excitement, and I love the pictures, especially looking out of the window into the night…. there is always something going on!
He tackles the housework in a purposeful way, and is an inspiration to me.
    Thank you!
